Last One Picked Review by Jo van Leerdam
Superchick consists of Max, Trish-lead singer, Melissa-guitarist and vocalist, Justin-6 stringer, Brian-drummer and Matt-base player. They started out when Max met a girl who rebelled against her school’s petty political flow and yet still became home coming queen. Max formed Superchick with the empowering message that kids will live grander lives if they seek out their purpose and follow the dreams outside the cruel “codes of cool”. Moreover the group wanted to show people what could be achieved simply by trying. This band, just by trying, has had many of their songs on TV/Film placements. Such as Alias, The Practice, The Glass House and Legally Blonde. They record all their own music themselves in a garage. This album, ‘Last One Picked’ is about courage. Their songs offer pointed commentaries about life’s silly social snares while encouraging people to find and pursue their life’s visions for all the right reasons. Everybody knows what it’s like to be the last one picked. These songs offer encouragement for those tough times when you just don’t feel like getting back up. This album fires out a melody mosh pit that propels the computer nerd or the band geek straight to prom night royalty! There are many issues that Superchick sing about on this album:
To finish all these pointers, the band reminds us
that we should live each day as its our last the way Jesus would want us
to, so we live a regret free life. Also in a couple of other tracks they
remind us that we don’t have to succeed all the time. It is OK to
stumble or fall because God is next to us all the time and He will pick
us up and carry us if He has to because He believes in us!
