Alphabetz Pets

‘Apie’ Betz
Illustrated by Owen Carless, Heartfelt Sounds, 2000

It is always a special delight to introduce T&S readers to homegrown books – a rare event to be sure – but therefore all the more delightful. In this instance it is a children’s book that will appeal to their vivid imagination and sense of fun.

Alphabetz Pets was written particularly for children under 10 years of age, with 54 pages of rhymes, cartoons and information on all kinds of animals. However, the book will also engage the young at heart as they laugh at the cartoons or are intrigued with hunting for that hidden letter in each picture.

The book was written by ‘Apie’ Betz, a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Wollongong. ‘Apie’ is well known there for his contributions to the ‘kids talk’ section of the morning worship services.

Locally, this book has already been well received. Heartfelt Sounds (which previously produced Helen Betz’ ‘Missing Link’ CD) have also announced that sales will support the ‘Help a Child’ Foundation, with 10% going to children in third world countries.

For those interested in ordering a book we pass on the following information: within Australia for just $9.95, a copy will be mailed to your door (that price includes $7.50 for the book plus postage and handling at $2.45). Please send a cheque or money order to the value of $9.95 to:
Heartfelt Sounds C/- 52 Caldwell Avenue Tarrawanna, NSW 2518.
