The Tree That Jesus
Died On
© Barry Goode.
I want to thank God
for the tree that Jesus died on.
For every day He watched that seedling grow,
He knew that every grain,
Would be strengthened by the rain,
And used to nail His Son with cruel blows.
I want to thank God
for the tree that Jesus died on.
For as that sapling grew so tall and free,
My heavenly Father watched,
As mocking sinners scoffed,
And crucified His Son upon that tree.
I want to thank God
for the tree that Jesus died on,
For every grain that bore his precious blood.
When all our sin He bore,
God opened heavens door,
And poured out His forgiveness like a flood.
I want to thank God
for the tree that Jesus died on,
For after many days He rose again,
He left the realm of mortals,
And entered Heaven's portals,
And reigns there as the Lamb that once was slain.
I want to thank God
for the tree that Jesus died on,
For He died for all mankind to set us free,
And all who deep inside,
Repent of sin and pride,
Will know His peace, His love and purity.
