GOD CARES FOR YOU
Pauline Bouchier
The bountiful birds have discovered our
bird bath - a galvanized garbage tin lid
turned upside down, securely fastened to a
discarded basketball hoop, high up in the
safety of the vines.
The cackling honey-eaters come alone
or in twos, threes and fours, in all sizes,
drinking and dipping into the cool water,
ruffling their feathers, looking twice their
normal size.
The bigger birds chase the smaller ones
away.
There are the confident butcher birds,
the pert peewits, the colourful parrots,
the noisy miners, the dusky doves, the
willy wagtails and some little dainty
delightful birds, all of which I can see
through my kitchen window when I
am washing up.
If God cares for even the smallest of these
birds will He not also care for you,
O you of little faith?
